Rules & Guidelines « Thread Started on Jan 6, 2009, 1:09pm »
Hey there, welcome to bleeding love;;
Though it may look like we have a crapload of rules here, don't let them scare you off. The admins here try really hard to keep the board's atmosphere feeling open and enthusiastic to creativity, and we're usually pretty lax about the minor stuff. In our eyes, the most important thing is for everyone to have fun, and for no one to feel ganged up on or unfairly treated. In order for that kind of peace and happiness to remain, we've created a set of rules that we feel are fair and keep everyone equal and in check. If you have a disagreement or a concern with one of our rules, please feel free to PM an administrator to discuss it. We are open to changes! ____________________________________________________
First and foremost, it is important to note that Bleeding Love is considered a writing board as well as just a roleplay board. We pride ourselves on bringing together a wonderful community of creative, imaginative people who really just love to write. Because of this, we tend to hold applicants to a higher standard than perhaps other boards might, simply because we don't want to play with people who don't know how to write, spell, or follow directions. Understandable, right? Don't be afraid to apply-- we aren't looking for the next Mark Twain or anything, we just want to know that we can hold interest in what you are saying!
Respect your fellow members and administrators. Be nice! We're all quite friendly here, and all of our administrators try their hardest to make sure that new members feel warm and welcomed. If you have a problem with anyone, including an administrator, please PM any staff member or whoever it is that you have the problem with. Whatever you do, just keep it off the board. We strive to be a peaceful, drama-free atmosphere, and troublemakers are definitely not looked favorably upon.
Please keep the bashing to a minimum. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but keep the heat to yourself if you think it will upset someone. We all know each other pretty well, who our favorites are, who we like and dislike, so please be respectful to one another when making comments in the CBox. I don't care if you post links in the CBox, but just remember this is Bleeding Love, not another RP site.
Stay alive! Please don't join just to forget about us! Inactive accounts will be deleted after 30 days and characters that have not posted after 10 days will be given a three day warning before being taken away.
Most characters are available for play. Most can also be brought back, provided you give a good enough reason as to their return. If a character has been cremated, they cannot be brought back for obvious reasons. If you are unsure of whether or not a character may be brought back, feel free to ask. At this time, MYOCs are welcome, but on a limited basis, meaning we must be totally impressed by their game. First and foremost, however, is they may NOT be related to a canon, meaning no long lost children, siblings, parents, etc.
There is no current character limit per person except for what the admins think may be too much for you to handle. We do reserve the right to step in and take away a character (starting with MYOCs) if we feel like you are unable to keep up. Also, the male/female ratio must be maintained.
Above all else, this forum judges on creativity and really being innovative with your characters. We don't want to see a carbon-copy saint or a replica of yourself. It is your job and your responsibility to come up with your own drama, storylines and situations within RP. The administrators are here to help and create some material if needed, but we enjoy RPing too and would rather not spend our time writing for everyone else.
Though our posting length requirements are loose and fairly laid-back, we do ask that you please post with a minimum of 3 well-written paragraphs to help uphold our title of 'literate.' Please keep in mind that you are writing for someone to reply to. We aren't asking for a stuffy, essay format, "five sentences equal a paragraph" deal, but please, write something that somebody can decently respond to. I should also note that it's typically considered polite to try and match or at least come close to the length of the last post of the person you're threading with-- just so they don't feel their efforts are being wasted!
Post at least three times a week. It is an easy compromise. You are not expected to lurk 24/7 to post, but please try to keep up so storylines can progress at a decent pace. If you find yourself stuck in a thread where someone has not posted, by all means, make an excuse and post yourself out. There is no reason why someone should be holding up roleplay for others who have been waiting. And please, for goodness' sake, do not use the BS writers block or 'lost muse' excuse for not posting. If you are busy, you're busy, but don't blame it on something that you can get around.
When RPing any character, you may post yourself in NO MORE than 2 places at a time (one public, one private,) but please make sure you are aware of which thread comes first so as to avoid confusion.
