Miranda Lenore Stevenson was always an attractive girl and she knew how to use her charms to get her way. She was generally a good girl growing up and was definately a daddy's girl, even going as far as to butt heads with her uber-religious mother. Her mother put her in a High School alined with a strict church where they were not allowed to watch tv, listen to music, or even wear pants.Because of all her worries over fitting in, and stressing out about being caught with things like jeans (Which she would change into in the woods), she developed a ulcer. As soon as she graduated she left their small southern town, learned how to cover up her accent and moved to New York. She began to write, which she had always loved, and got into Romance because of how easy they were to sell, not to mention she was always a bit of a romantic at heart. When she was in her early twenties, she had a friend who was surrogate for her cousin. Miranda met Dominic and Lorraine Meadows, they lived in New Jersey and Miranda met them because Dominic was a English Professor who also helped edit and publish a literary journal. Miranda asked Dominic to look over some of her more serious work and she got to them. Through all of this, she discovered they were desperate for a baby but Lorraine's age and health made it a risk for her to be pregnant and carry to term. Eventually, Miranda brought up the idea of being a surrogate for them, as they had become like parents to her since the passing of her father and the estrangement of her and her mother. The Meadows paid for her expenses while she was pregnant and her medical bills as well. When she gave birth to Jacqueline, the Meadows still invited her to come around and even babysit Little Jack. They all got along and spent time together until around the time Jack was six. Miranda had been married for about two years and she and her husband decided to try for a baby themselves. Nothing was working, so they went to the doctor's to get tested. Miranda found out that not only did she have ovarian cancer that has preventing her from being able to get pregnant. She had to have a hysterectomy and her hopes at motherhood for herself were gone. She and her husband tried to keep it together but ultimately she became too depressed and it was too important to him to be able to have their own baby although he tried to pretend it wasn't. After her divorce she spent more time at the Meadows playing with Jack, they became quite close. Ever since Jack was a baby, Jack couldn't say Miranda's name so she let her call her by a version of her middle name 'Norrie'. Lorraine started to feel like Miranda was becoming too close and dependent on her relationship with Jack and so just after Christmas that sixth year, they asked Miranda not to come back. Now Sixteen years later, She decided to seek Jack out. She's over the age of eighteen and Miranda feels like they should have a chance to know each other again. played by Melinda Clarke
