Having been sober for year he had forgotten what a hangover felt like. Something he vowed never to do again. Flashes from Jake’s teased his mind, making the throbbing worse. Elizabeth’s face crumpled face blindsided him. Oh god what had he done? How could he have said those thing to her? Elizabeth had been nothing but wonderful to him. Even taking him back after his screw up with Carly. And how did he repay her? He had blamed her for Jake’s death. He had used things she told him in confidence against her.
